There are a few things in life that get me super giddy and books are one of them! A few weeks back, I thought I was going on a morning coffee date with my sweet hubby, but all of a sudden, he whipped the car into the Houston Public Library – Heights location. For weeks, I had mentioned my desire to get a new library card and save money on books, but I hadn’t found the time to go. Josh made it happen though, and it was the best day. I’m pretty sure I was smiling all morning, so Josh kept pulling my hypothetical pigtails about how happy I was about books. It was everything I wanted that Saturday morning!
Watch Me Disappear by Janelle Brown is one of the books I checked out on my first visit. I had never heard of the book or the author, so I really wasn’t sure what was going to come of it, but free books make it easier to try something you know nothing about.
Watch Me Disappear is probably one of my favorite books of 2018 so far. The story line is one I never imagined! As the plot begins, Olive and her dad, Jonathan, have just hit the year anniversary of Billie’s disappearance and possible death. Billie, Olive’s mom and Jonathan’s wife, is a character with a crazy past and deep-rooted secrets that those closest to her know nothing about. Watch Me Disappear allows us to do life alongside Dad as he learns of affairs, financial withdrawals, and a hired PI. At the same time, we walk with Olive as she begins to have hallucinations of her mom and truly believes Billie is still alive, wanting to be found. Together, the two of them set out to determine the truth about this mysterious lady in their lives – is she dead or alive? Did she truly love them or was her past really who she would always be?
By the end of the novel, all of your questions are answered, but your jaw will still be on the floor.
Putting this on my “list!”
